Opening Dock 3: New Public Spaces and Bridges from Govan Road Housing on Govan Road will enhance accessibility to Dock 3 quayside and create new public open spaces with dock views. Two new staircases from the public spaces between the housing blocks will link down to the Dock 3 quayside. Additionally, four ground-floor pends, aligned with the listed dock stairs, will provide visual links from Govan Road to the docks and offer secondary access to the quayside. As part of the broader site vision, a bridge will be reinstated across the middle of Dock 3 along the historic ‘mid’ dock gates, connecting Govan Road with the Clyde Walkway between Docks 2 and 3. Similarly, at the east end of Dock 3, a new bridge will be created across the existing dock gates, enhancing access and permeability.
