Project Drawing Board Alongside projects on site and recent completions, 2025 was also a year of focused design development across the studio. Our self-initiated Glasgow Climate Courtyards project progressed through early-stage research and design development, in collaboration with @gallant_gla and @bogl_landscape . Focused on Govanhill, the project explores how tenement backcourts can be adapted to support climate resilience while strengthening everyday community life. In Girvan, we advanced a number of community-led heritage projects, including proposals for the restoration of the Girvan Bandstand with Adventure Centre for Education alongside continued work on Girvan’s Story for South Ayrshire Council in collaboration with Conservation Architect Fiona Sinclair. We are also developing a new fully off-grid outdoor learning facility for the University of Edinburgh in the Ochil Hills, north of Bridge of Allan. The project adopts a light-touch, low-carbon approach, with a small timber building designed to sit sensitively within the landscape. Operating entirely off-grid, the facility will use renewable energy and include a composting toilet. It will support outdoor teaching, research and fieldwork, forming part of the University’s Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives. We look forward to sharing more as these projects move into their next stages!
