Drumbrae, University of Edinburgh

We are currently developing a new off-grid outdoor learning facility for the University of Edinburgh, located within the Ochil Hills just north of Bridge of Allan.

Set within the University’s 430-hectare Drumbrae estate, the project forms part of its wider woodland creation programme, an initiative aimed at restoring habitats, capturing carbon and supporting the University’s net-zero ambitions.

The facility will provide a small base for outdoor teaching, research and fieldwork, supporting staff, students and community groups engaging with the evolving woodland landscape. It will also host outreach activities with local schools, helping people of all ages connect more closely with nature through hands-on learning and exploration.
