Collaboration with Local Communities Post 1/3 Creating place and space is a collective endeavour. We believe that the most successful and sustainable designs are those developed in collaboration - we are energised by working closely with our clients, local communities, the people who will ultimately use these places and spaces, artists and all of the expert professionals that we work with. While we were designing the Rainbow Pavilion in Strathclyde Country Park, we had an opportunity to work together with the primary school children of New Monkland Primary School. We were asked to create a multi-use structure and artwork to accommodate and promote outdoor learning and events. We hosted workshops engaging pupils in discussions on environmental issues, reuse of the planet’s resources, and problem solving in the design process. They shared their ideas on how they thought the pavilion could be sheltered from rain. You can see their fun collages with rain screen proposals, and how they were developed further by artist @katevrobertson and ourselves in the images above.
