Thistle Street
The Thistle Street project will see the retrofit and repurposing of a former warehouse into a modern aparthotel.
The existing sandstone and slate building, built in 1838 and developed in phases over its lifetime, is within New Town Conservation Area and the Edinburgh Old and New Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Both internally and externally, the building features many existing historic elements, which the proposals look to retain and celebrate, including original cast iron columns and brick vaults. The alterations also reinstate the ‘sunk floor’ windows into the basement and the positions of the windows on the rear elevation.
