Sam co-founded O’DonnellBrown with Jennifer O’Donnell in 2013. Prior to this Sam was architecture team leader at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for seven years. There he was responsible for all projects, involving coordination, design management, client liaison, dispute resolution and consultant appointments.
Sam is also actively involved in architectural education, having filled the roles of Associate Lecturer, Study Support Tutor and Professional Practice Examiner at Central Saint Martins in London, and more recently as Studio Design Tutor at the University of Strathclyde. He currently teaches at Glasgow School of Art as a Studio Design Tutor.

Jennifer co-founded O’DonnellBrown with Sam Brown in 2013, A graduate of the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Jennifer has maintained links with Glasgow’s architecture schools, both as visiting critic and studio design tutor. She is passionate about using these roles to help educate the next generation about the built environment and the social responsibility that comes with shaping it.
Jennifer is a Design Council Expert and a regular guest judge for the Architects Journal annual design awards.
Jennifer O’Donnell - Director
Michael graduated from the University of Strathclyde Department of Architecture in 2007. Michael joined O’DonnellBrown in 2019 as an Associate and was promoted to Director in 2022.
Michael was the youngest elected President of the Glasgow Institute of Architects in 2014 and the youngest architect to be nominated Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects Scotland in 2016.
Michael is also an Ambassador for the Architects Benevolent and an Examiner with the Architects Professional Examination Authority in Scotland.
Michael Dougall - Director
Ryan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Robert Gordon University in 2013, where he was nominated for the RIBA Bronze Medal.
Following a graduation with Distinction for his Masters’ degree from the University of Strathclyde in 2016, Ryan joined O’DonnellBrown. Since then, Ryan has worked on a wide breadth of projects differing in scale, sector and complexity including a number of small scale education and community projects. Ryan is Project Architect for The Foundry and Govan Graving Docks.
Ryan McOmish - Architect
Sandy joined O’DonnellBrown in 2022. During his time at the practice he has worked on a number of projects ranging from small public works through to larger scale projects in the commercial and residential sectors.
Prior to his time at O’DonnellBrown Sandy has worked for several practices in London, notably working on an installation for the 2018 Venice Biennale and a new build house in Berlin commended in the Architects Journal house of the year. During Sandy’s time in Education, he was awarded the Chairman’s Medal by the Glasgow School of Art for his Thesis project which focused on new uses for the Grade A listed Govan Graving Docks.
Sandy Vile - Architectural Assistant
India joined O’DonnellBrown in 2022, continuing to build on previous experience of working with user-groups of all ages and backgrounds to deliver socially and environmentally sustainable buildings.
India is currently Project Architect for the refurbishment of, and extension to, Take A Bow Opportunity Centre, a project which reimagines a well-used and well-loved community centre, working alongside the design team and Carbon Futures to improve the building’s fabric and services performance.
In 2021, India joined the Mackintosh School of Architecture as a studio tutor and is currently the Stage 2 Co-Pilot and studio tutor.
India Czulowska-Burns - Architect
Ross has worked at O’DonnellBrown since 2020 and during this time he has developed a depth of knowledge and experience on working with existing building and how these can be sensitively improved, altered and extended to allow for new uses.
Ross is currently project architect for an extensive refurbishment of the Pipe Factory, a category B listed building in the east end of Glasgow, along with works to Millport Townhall on the Isle of Cumbrae, and a recently completed refurbishment of New Olympia House in Bridgeton, Glasgow.
Ross is also a part time design studio tutor at the University of Strathclyde, and is a charity trustee of the Andrew Gillespie Trust which offers a travel scholarship to students of architecture.

Dana has experience in small and medium size architectural practices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Copenhagen and Moscow. Dana has worked across a variety of sectors from domestic extension projects, community venues and outdoor learning pavilions to large residential developments and masterplanning projects.
Dana offers a specific expertise in leading community engagement and has delivered workshops with school pupils for the Rainbow Pavilion project, public consultations for the Govan Graving Docks in Glasgow, and self initiated the community market project in her local area of Govanhill.
