206 new build apartments in the south side of Glasgow
On behalf our client New City Vision, we are developing proposals for 206 new build affordable homes on the site of the former Etna Foundry. The development will provide a mix of 2 bed and 3 bed flats, maisonettes, and townhouses centred around a ‘green link’ which will connect Maxwell Road on the southern edge of the site to a new cycle route at the north west corner of the site. Ground floor flats located on the green link have been given main door entrances to enliven the street and improve passive surveillance, with the benefit of the opportunity for personalisation and ownership of the private front gardens. Brick will be the defining characteristic of the scheme, used liberally throughout, referencing the existing Foundry architecture but also with a nod to the establishment of the material as part of Glasgow’s new vernacular.
